I am exceedingly familiar with both having participated in writing them.  My
point, I think, is that the words of the standard are the "official"
description of the breed, accepted by the AKC and accepted by members of the
GPCA.  The words of the Illustrated Standard are commentary.  the "opinion"
of those of us who wrote it.  The I.S. can be used to help and educate.  It
cannot be used as the official and "indisputable" description of the breed.

Nor when one uses the words, "From the AKC standard" should the words of the
I.S. be "mixed" in with the words of the AKC Standard without making that
very clear.
