I could never bring myself to reply to posts of such pain. I just feel totally helpless, but cry quietly here reading. I CANNOT understand WHY...when people spend much of their lives truly loving, truly caring, providing all they can to give an animal or human the quality of live they so richly deserve, that when they die , the pain is excrutiating? Is this our reward? Why can't we be spared this pain? Why can't we be rewarded with joy at the end, knowing the time was lovingly spent? Those who are unscrupulous, and cause death or pain should grieve terribly.I have read so many posts where the pain is so great that it actually deters one from ever wanting another companion, and these are the people who SHOULD have them. Our companions HATE it when we are sad, they do their best to comfort us. So... Joe, SMILE!!! Abe was so very worthy it. Michele
