[pyrnet] RE: Rescue Pyr in Adrian TX

Laila,
Thanks for responding so quickly. I'm sorry I did not get back with you
yesterday, but I was busy making arrangements for this girl to meet with a
family wanting to owned by a Pyr!
Monday evening I went to Adrian to see this girl and get an idea about her
personality, health, confirmation, etc. I could not believe what I found.
She is a beautiful, young bitch with an absolutely wonderful temperament!
She had been in Adrian, wandering around, for over a week or so before I was
notified about her. She is very thin, mostly bones. Her hair is rather
coarse, but this could be due to poor nutrition while she has been on the
roam. I am no expert, but she seems to have fairly good conformation. She
did not have a collar on or any other form of ID. She stood quietly while we
put a collar on her and would let me touch her while she was eating. Of
course, I came back to Amarillo talking her up to friends and co-workers.
By Tuesday noon I had a prospective family interested in her. So hear we
went back out to Adrian so Brian and Sara could meet her and to see if she
would get along with their 13 month old son, Nicoli. When we got to Adrian
to see the dog, it had begun to rain so we put a leash on the Pyr, loaded
her in my car and took her to my mother's home there in Adrian. We wanted to
see how she would react to the baby and see how she reacted to being in a
house. The visit went really well. She got along with Nicoli, with my
mother's cat, and with the other dogs in the house. She was wonderful and
so of course won herself a "forever home"! We brought her back to Amarillo
and a trip to PetsMart for collars, leads, bones, etc.
Her name is now Gwendolyn Peacock. She has just been to a dog spa for
grooming and has an appointment at the Vet for shots and a check up this
afternoon. It does look like we have a winning situation for Gwen.
Also could you tell me how I could go about helping with rescue in this
area? I

>> Marci, we got your message-we don't have any volunteers in that area but
I will try to find you help-we don't advance costs of any dogs unless they
are fostered by TGPR volunteers so we can't help you there but we can try to
place this dog on your behalf and can reimburse vet bills (rescue rates) up
to our adoption fee of $150 -- but definitely please ID this dog-try to find
local foster help if at all possible and I will try to find who can help in
that area of Texas!
