That 'sweet potato' looking thing is probably an Iris. Although
there area lot of other sweet potato looking things, as well. <G>
Not sure if they are toxic or not. Basically, it's a tuberous
root. Just watch for them, and when you see them pop up,
transplant them to a safe area, away from the dogs.
