[pyrnet] A question on showing and socialization

My friend just got a new newf puppy.  I realize this is a PYR site but maybe
someone can clarify this for me anyway. The breeder told my friend that she
has to keep the puppy away from other dogs for 2 years because it might
damage the puppy's hips if another dog jumps on her, mounts her or plays too
rough.  Now I've only had hands on experience with dogs for 3 1/2 years as
Jasmine was my first dog. However I've read an awful lot about dogs since
getting her and it seems to me that this goes against everything I have
read.  Also, isn't playing with other dogs and puppies supposed to give them
the best exercise?   And show them how to be a dog and know good dog
manners?  And give them more confidence? We showed Seamus until he got too
male dog aggressive and we decided to neuter him.  The breeder never said we
couldn't let him play with other dogs.  Is this just a newf thing, maybe?
