Re: [pyrnet] A question on showing and socialization

Haven't read my mail in a few days, but did want to answer this question since
I am a breeder who cautions puppy buyers not to let their pups rough-house
with bigger dogs. I had a friend whose puppy suffered a crushed pelvis and had
to be put to sleep when a bigger dog collided with her. My dogs love to play
"crash-o" in our 2- acre field. They get going so fast that they can't stop
and could do some serious injury to a young pup. I suggest taking pups (not
before they have had all their shots at 16 weeks) to puppy kindergarten
classes or allow them to meet other dogs while on leash (that way you have
control if it turns out the other dog is not friendly)or to only play with
dogs their size. I really don't care very much for those "dog parks" where
dogs are allowed to run loose. I'd be afraid that my pup might get attacked.
Also, have heard of of Pyrs who decided that the park is "their territory" and
won't let new dogs in. My 2 cents worth.
