Re: [pyrnet] Romy's first Dog match

If Romy has a good "top line" wear a skirt or dress that shows
off the "topline". I.E. darker print or darker colored plain.
Flat soled shoes she can run in, and a smile. Are you using a
show collar, or a larger choker. (heavier metal links?) Get a
show choke if you don't have one. they are very thin, come in
jeweler's link (my preference) or regular links (like a training
choker but the links are much smaller) and make suer it fits
properly. Should slide easily over the dog's head, not choke him
when loose, but remain at the top of the neck, just behind the
ears, easily. (in other words, it shouldn't always be sliding
down to the area of the neck near the shoulders) If the collar
fits properly (and is put on correctly) there should be little
need for tightening and loosening anyway. When the collar is up
at the top of the neck, you basically have finger tip control.
Show collars also come in nylon, which may be of some help as
well. And get a "handler's lead". (does not have a snap hook to
attach it to the collar, but has a small loop that you pass the
hand loop through on the choke ring) This way, there's no snap
that will break if you need to really control the dog. (doesn't
happen often, but it happens) He should be trotting out nicely on
a loose lead.
