Re: [pyrnet] Getting a Pyr to Eat

I definitely agree, do not force feed. Jascha has always
eaten when he wants regardless of any treats. I now
leave his bowl with the meat and kibble for half a day
before throwing it out if he doesn't finish it, as well
as a full bowl of kibble so he has a choice. He has
maintained his weight within five pounds for years this
way. My black lab, Elinor was a compulsive eater and
almost constantly on a diet for most of her life. The
green bean diet was the only thing that kept her from
blowing up even more. I had to remove the other dogs
food or she would eat that too. It is much healthier for
the dog (and I need to remember this about myself) only
to eat when hungry and then only to eat as much as
needed.
