[pyrnet] FOUND - Great Pyrenees in Southern Maryland

I am in need of advice and assistance regarding a Pyr
that was found on a farm in Southern Maryland.  
 
About 2 months ago, a "big white dog" showed up on a
65-acre farm in St.Mary's County, Maryland.  The
owners reported it to their local SPCA but, at that
time, there had been no report of a missing dog
fitting this description within the last year.  At the
time, these folks did not know the breed.  The
gentleman has been feeding the dog, who he calls
"Smokey", but "Smokey" is very wary of humans and will
not let anyone near him. The owner has left the barn
door open and the door to the shed open but "Smokey"
won't go inside.   

These folks contacted by husband and I after seeing a
picture of our Pyr on a calendar that had our names
and our hometown (Annapolis).  He called to ask for
help in placing the dog in rescue.  He is 84 years old
and his wife is disabled.  We visited them yesterday
and couldn't get close to "Smokey" although he ran and
played with our Pyr, Heiko.  The dog has a collar but
we can't see any identification on it.  
 
I am willing to do whatever is necessary to help these
wonderful folks and this lovely Pyr, but I would like 
some guidance.  I have contacted the rescue chairs of
the Penn Dutch Great Pyrenees Club, of which I am a
member, and the Virginia rescue club.  I have also
sent an email to the Missing Pet Network.
