Getting a male dog neutered is relatively minor surgery. However, spaying a
female is major surgery. My advice, keep her quiet as long as you can, do
your best to keep the incision clean and dry, and get some antibiotics from
the vet in case of infection. And yes, they can sometimes do more damage
trying to escape from their confinement than they would if left alone to do
as they please.
