[pyrnet] Looking for another Pyr
Hi... I'm new to the list. We live in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia
and have a working Pyr named Atalanta (AKC reg. Atalanta, Guardian
Huntress) who takes care of our four goats, Peter, Paul, and Mary and Emmy
Lou Harris. The goats are our brushclearing crew. We have 7.5 acres, of
which Atalanta and her goats have the run of about 3 acres at any one time.
Atalanta will be four years old in December. We are looking for another
Pyr to keep her company. We would like a young male, perhaps even a
puppy. He would be expected to become a working dog, living outside year
round with the rest of the crew.
The animals are inside an electric fence, which we move as
needed. Atalanta has never been in the house. She and the goats have
shelters for bad weather. We do take Atalanta out on a leash to visit
Pets In The Park in town once a year, or occasionally to a groomer to
scrape off the mud and comb out the brambles. While she is socialized and
loves people (especially kids), she is all business after dark or any time
she gets a whiff of a coyote or other threat to her goats. She gets
excellent veterinary care.
Atalanta is very much loved by me and my wife, Susan. I have put up some
pictures on a quick-and-dirty web page at:

Sorry to go on at such length, but I felt it was important to let you know
the environment into which we would be bringing another dog. If anyone has
any contacts anywhere near us, please let me know.
      ...Bob
