Re: [pyrnet] Hot spot

Hi Jan
We live in Florida and hot spots can be really bad to cear up in our hot moist subtropical climate.  But this past year we have found some products that I'd have to class in the miracle department in that they actually work.

#1 My vet tells me that we were feeding to high a protein/fat level for extreme heat.  We had been feeding a chiken/rice kibble of 26% protein, 15% fat.  With the heat over 95 degrees and hunmidity at the soggy level of 70 - 80 % daily we seemed to be hatching hot spots right and left on even the short coated dogs we handle.  My vet advised dropping the protein to around 21 - 22% and fat from 15% to about 12%. Which we did immediately that helped somewhat.  But once a break in the skin occured in this weather even antibiotics and Prednisolone were not having any effect.

#2 A groomer friend of ours told us about a new shampoo and spray that were making a big dnt in skin things in her shop.  She gave me a little to try it, and I liked it so much I ordered it in gallons asap.
It is a horse product called EQYSS MICRO-TEK Shampoo and there is a spray to use in between bathing.  It absolutely stops bacteria, fungus, etc in its tracks.  It was devloped for NASA for use in Spacelab, where you can not have an outbreak of anything in such a small area.  It cleans and clears the wounds of the afflicted area like nothing I have ever seen.  The animal quits scrathing and biting as it sooths the itching and burning immediately.  In less than a day it is healing and the animal is comfortable.
Give it a try.  It is available at horse feed stores etc everywhere.  You want the product for horses that kills fungus, rainrot etc.
