We put her on  Etogesic about 3 weeks ago, it helps a little but she is
still uncomfortable. I read some info about Etogesic and it seems to have
much the same side effects as Rimadyl. I will speak with my vet about
adeguan.

I agree; I would never put any of my dogs on Rimadyl for the long term.  I
only use it for Raisa about 3-4 times a month, on days when she has played
too hard and is uncomfortable in getting up.  I give her one before bed
time, and she is good to go the next morning.

One of my previous Alaskan Malamutes, Mishka, had severe hip dysplasia, and
in that case the Rimadyl helped much better than the Adequan injections.  I
think different dogs react differently to a variety of medication, and it
may be a matter of finding which one most positively impacts your dog with
the least amount of side affects.  I hope you have a comfortable
relationship with your vet, to talk about the pros and cons of each option
before moving forward with a solution.

Rimadyl does have some very serious side effects.

Please research completely before considering this drug for your 
dog.  My Mishka has severe arthritis of her spine.  She was on 
Glucosamine for years until it would not longer control her pain.  I 
have switched to Adequan, an injectible Glucosamine which is 
giving her good pain relief.  Adequan also has side effects, but 
nothing like long term Rimadyl use.
