All that being said, with everything going perfect, a small percentage will die from the procedure.  The percentage is very low, but there nonetheless.  Why risk it at all when diligence will find a vet who has the skills to do the x-rays without the anesthesia?  This will probably (should) also mean that the procedure is less expensive as well.
