I had my old german shepherd on Rimadyl for a long time.  He took a pill every other day.  As his condition was getting worse, we increased it to one pill everyday. This helped him, and he did well until pancreatitis set in for a second time and he couldn't recover and thus we put him to sleep last November at the age of 15 years.  He also took glucosamine and had been on metacam prior to the rimadyl.
