Re: [pyrnet] Food issues

Hello!  Thanks for your response!  Couper's rash is much better.  I did end up switching his dog food to a food that my Golden has been on since he was two.  He's doing much better.
Thanks,
Jenn, Chase, Bailey, and Couper

Hi!  Hope I'm doing this right because this is my first time posting!  I just read the post on the pup that doesn't like his food and has a skin rash.  I have an 18 month old pyr named Tess.  When she was a puppy she was covered with hives, had runny eyes, and around her mouth was always red and irritated.  Her condition would clear up and then come right back after several days to a week later.  After being misdiagnosed several times (sarcoptic mange, shampoo irritation, etc.) we finally switched vets.  The new vet ran an allergy test on her and it turned out that she was allergic to her food and several environmental things.  She used to scratch like a maniac and would break out in hives ALL over.  With a switch in diet and heartworm med, keeping her flea-free, and keeping her inside when certain things are blooming she is now fine.  Thankfully we haven't had to start on the allergy shots but doses of the Benedryl seem to help when she has a small breakout of hives.  Hope this helps!  Good luck!
