My first thought also.  But a complete work up by vet is needed as well 
as a complete thyroid panel.  In the meantime, don't let the dog around 
the children and especially any of your children's friends. You also 
mention specialists...have you consulted a behaviorist?  If so, what is 
their recommendation and also your vets recommendation? Have you 
contacted your breeder?
