Re: [pyrnet] Deafness

Judith,

How long do you think Mishka was hearing impaired before you became aware of
it? My first pyr, Jascha, was blind from cataracts probably for several
months before we knew. It wasn't until we needed to board him because our
usual sitter was not available and he walked into the back of the car that
it became apparant he had a problem. The car was parked and ready for him
to get in but he missed the back door by three feet. An immediate trip to
vet confirmed the problem. He had had regular vet visits and knew the
office well enough to get along so it had been missed just a few weeks
before. His sense of smell never seemed to deteriorate and he maneuvered
around the house and fenced yard quite well. He did need help outside the
yard on a leash and allowed me to guide him. I was his seeing eye person.

Amy
