The funny thing is Nancy that these people are probably a neighbour or a delivery person, we watch them, as we sprint to get the backdoor open, reaching over to try and unlock it, we actually have a sliding bolt on the bottom as well, so even if they are successful they would have to have pretty long arms to reach that one, but hey as you say they aren't to bright to be trying all of this in the first place. I am sure that having a "No Trespassing" sign surely should not offend anyone and makes the point without even mentioning a dogs presence...

We have often caught people pushing and shoving at the gate in an attempt to open it And these are EXACTLY the people we DO NOT want in our yard. They're obviously a couple jokers short of a full deck! Isn't the legal term for that "trespassing"?
