Patty,
I know this probably won't help
you much, but for what it's worth, my Pyr likes nothing better than being any
color other than white. If there is something dead, he rolls in it.
If there is something that smells bad, he rolls in it. If there is
something that will change his fur color to anything other than white, he rolls
in it. (picture fresh green cow manure lol that is his favorite). I don't
know about everyone else's Pyr, but if mine is any example, you just have to
clean them the best you can and love them anyway. They are the most
wonderful dogs I have known so far, but they have their strange habits as I am
sure you are learning daily. You just wait, lol, yours is still on "new
home" behavior. When I got mine from the shelter, he didn't show his true
colors for six months or so, and didn't decide we were his forever home until
somewhere around a year. Now he is the most lovable, adorable, ornery, and
loving white furball the world has ever seen.

Subject: [pyrnet] Dirty Dog - Help
needed
Hello, all. I am new to the group, and a new pyr owner. We
adopted our Cameron from the TX Pyr Rescue and have had him for about a
month. He was abandoned and left for dead and the wonderful people at
the rescue saved his life. We knew the moment we saw his picture he was
our baby. He's our first pyr and we are learning about them through
research and through Cam's "teachings". Anyway, we live in El Paso and
there's not much grass here. Our backyard is this reddish pebble/sand
mixture and Cameron is turning RED. I brush him daily, but he still has
this red tint to his beautiful white coat. Even after the groomer, he
looked kind of pink! He is an indoor dog, but likes to go out and bask
in the sun, which is why he's getting the color. Any suggestions on
keeping him cleaner? Or at least looking like a white dog, most of the
time?
Thanks for any help that might be offered.
