One last question - you did not mention a
microchip scan, but I assume that someone has checked that
too.

Sad to say but most people down here do not microchip their pets.
I've talked to Rob at the Humane Society about spay/neuter/chipping BEFORE
placing animals but seems that most people that rescue animals from the
shelter don't see why they should pay $100 or more for a "pound pooch" if you
know what I mean.
