Cody is the same way.  It takes alot of coaching to get him to wake up and go outside first thing in the morning.  Especially in the heat.  He'll stretch his neck out the door, take a sniff and if the weather isn't to his liking, he goes back to sleep.  He often goes a long time with out doing his business.  In the middle of winter - that is a different story.  He pretends to have to go pee, but all he really wants to do is lay in the cold and snow.  He'll get me up a couple of times in the night to do this during the colder months.
