Re: [pyrnet] New Yorker Cartoon

Jo and Hannah,

We have 13 guineas that range around about 20 acres closest to the house and they do a magnificent job of keeping the ticks down.  They are like a constantly moving "brigade" picking through the grass.  We love them all and, of course, we still keep Top Spot on Moses and Sassy as their range is bigger than the guineas.  Moses, especially, watches "his" guineas closely.  One day we saw him carefully scanning the sky and, sure enough, there was a huge, red-tailed hawk!  When the hawk veered away they all relaxed (the guineas had been "pot-racking" loudly, too)."

One night an owl hit our female Cayuga duck and killed her.....would have carried her off except for the "white tornadoes" that erupted around the yard.  So, it took off, sat in a huge hickory tree close by and WWOOOO-woooo'd for a while in disappointment.  But, I believe that Moses and Sassy almost got him....we haven't had any further visits from him.

Good to talk to you!  My email is    Poppagib@aol.com if you would want to communticate I would be tickled to have a "pen pal"!
