| There was an article in Comcast's on line news that
5000 French farmers were protesting in the Pyrenees Mountains on Saturday
against a plan to repopulate the bears in the region.  Farmers who raise
sheep are concerned about attacks on their sheep. According to the article bears dissappeared form
the Pyrenees in the 1980's.  Three were relaesed in 1996 and one of them
named Boutxi, killed 165 sheep last year. Two new female bears, named Palouma
and Fransks, have been released this year and three more releases are
planned.  It sounds like some of our favorite dogs need to
return to their roots and make their voices heard so these bears will stay in
the forest and not have lamb chops for dinner. Amy with Charlemagne (who barks enough that there
are no bears in this town) and Sweet Madeleine (who keeps the squirrels away - a
far more visible task) |
