Washington had a HUGE amount of snow in December and here at Nightsky, about 2 feet which is unheard of for my area. The dogs had a nice shed/kennel area where we stored our small tractor and they each had a dog house in there. It was covered with poly carbonate and had a "dog" door that went directly to the pasture so they could come and go. The other side, also with a chain link type gate, looked right towards the house. It collapsed (as you can see in the photos) under the weight of the snow. Lucky for me and the dogs - I had gotten up with Molly at midnight because Sampson (night time guard duty) was barking way too much and was "requesting" Molly ( who sleeps with me) come out and help. I padded out in the snow and opened up the kennel and started to release her and fortunately heard the "groaning" of the shed. I posted this before, but added one of those pics again for comparions.
Anyway, the great news is that our insurance covered it and we've rebuilt a MUCH better kennel area that NOTHING is going to bring down (absent an earthquake) and it is that much more cozy for the puppies. Now, if I could JUST convince Elmo and Chloe the goats that they should not be going through the dog door!
