This reminds me of what happened when we got neighbors got new dogs, when Jake was young. We shared a fence line (6 foot wood fence) with the next house. Jake had always pretty much ignored whatever dogs were on the other side. There had been several different dogs of a variety of breeds and Jake didn't pay much attention.
The neighbors got some new dogs and Jake hated them. He paced the fence line. He barked all the time. I couldn't see clearly through the fence, to find out what type of dog they were. I could hear them and they had a strange bark. When I finally saw them, I still wasn't sure. I thought maybe some sort of Malmute cross. When I asked the neigbhors, they told me they were wolves! Jake seem to know immediately what they were and that they didn't belong next door to him.
