My three dogs normally have three food bowls and one huge
water bowl lined up next to each other and feeding time is calm. The pug
usually waits till the two Pyrs are done but if he sees an opportunity, he will
jump in early. I had some leftover mashed potatoes and gravy after dinner
and dumped it in one bowl when I thought no one was watching, intending to add
to it and then divide among the three bowls. Harry Pugger saw this and
ran over – he got a few bites before the Pyrs noticed and both came
over. Harry retreated and both Sweetie and Charlie stuck their noses into
the bowl. I thought this could be interesting and stopped to watch.
No problem - the two just munched cheek to cheek. Charlie likes to enjoy
his food lying down so took his nose out, maneuvered around to a comfortable
spot, then reached over with his paw to pull the bowl over to him as he always
does. Sweetie’s nose was still in the bowl so she did not miss a
lick and just walked a long with it until it was close enough to Charlie for
him to resume his munch. It was only about a cup of mashed potatoes and a
few tablespoons of gravy but it was the best entertainment at my house for us
all. Amy with Harry Pugger, Sweet Madeleine and Charlemagne |
