[pyrnet] Dog Food: dry & canned

Yes, It's the "Year End Dog Food Round Up" :)

I'm curious what folks have been feeding their dogs lately. None of my

First, I was wondering if anyone experienced the following (size of appetite):

1. None of my Pyrs have ever been what you'd call food motivated and go for surprisingly long periods without food or wanting to eat. They have their routine however so automatically around 5:00 pm or so they start hanging around the kitchen door.

And of course any dog has their few table foods they just love - so I just mean in general.

2. Everyone but non-Pyr owners are stunned when I tell them how much Kodiak eats, which is nothing compared to other large animal dogs. I have to stock up food and spend more, sure; but I am surprised how little Pyrs eat compared to other dogs.

Next, the two things I have been curious about.

1. I read about read about Natural Balance Dry Dog Food. It seems more applicable to dogs with food allergies, some kind of illness or other food sensitivities. But I got a very good price on a 28-pound bag so I bought it.

2. Is anyone using canned food? I am concerned about Pedigree and Alpo not being very nutritious. I don't know if Costco has changed over the years but he seems to hate the smell of their canned food.

3. I do cut give him a "soup bone" every night. There is a small, generous portion of meat & a bone with lots of marrow.

I am genuinely interested in y'alls opinions & experienced with these areas - with any of your dogs.

Thanks,

Happy Halloween & Happy Holidays
