[pyrnet] Re: pyrnet-l-digest.20110330

I can give some information about how my two adopted Pyrs interact.  I have a fairly large house (2700 SF) and they are inside most of the time.  I have a .5 acre fenced yard.  The girl was  born in a puppy mill and adopted by me at 9 weeks.  At the time, I had a 12YO very dominant adopted Dober-girl, and a 10 YO very submissive adopted Dober-guy.  All spayed and neutered.  Dober-guy passed away, leaving 13 YO dominant Dober-girl. Dober-girl and Pyr girl got along fine, because Dober-girl was the alpha. I adopted 18 Month old Pyr guy, who came in submissive.  Dober-girl put him in his place, and all was well.  Dober-girl played with both PYRs as much as she could encourage them to do, given their "respect" of her.  Pyrs' loved each other from day one, and still do.  Puppy mill girl is afraid of everything, and Pyr guy is very affectionate, loving, and "in charge" of the yard.  when Dober-girl passed at age 14, Pyr girl stepped up to alpha dog (behind me) and Pyr guy guards us all, but is dominated by us girls.  The Pyrs are soul mates.  They share everything, except Pyr girl will guard her food bowl but only slightly, because Pyr guy backs off.  They truly love each other.  Their personalities are so different, and I think that is the secret for their getting along.  It is probably an indivdual thing with the dogs -- what is their personality?
