Actually,there was an older Horror novel about just such a situation.I have 
the novel somewhere,and will post the title as soon as I find it.

Synopsis:The germans at the height of the war,discovered a vein of 
mithril.They manufactured about 20(I think),Jagdpanther tank Hunters.They 
gave these to the top Waffen-SS tank crews,and sent them into battle.Most 
were not as great as expected,because the mithril only works for those it 
chooses.By the time the Allies were pushing out of France,only one tank 
remained,though this one was invulnerable.They even made mithril Ap rounds 
for the 88mm gun.The tank crew and commander were killed,when they were 
sitting outside the tank by an artillery barrage.

It continues in the future,which does not really concern us.However the 
tank,did keep the original programming?,and continued to attack allied 
tanks.Imagine the surprise of your Gi's when,after killing the tank crew.The 
tank continues to attack them.
