Re: [WW] Campaign Idea

Title: Re: [WW] Campaign Idea
and the idea of Dwarven shock troops, elven commandos, Orcish heavy weapons, squad mage, etc.

I was thinking a set up along the lines of

Jan 13, 1942

Germany:  Riech scientists tamper with christian artifact, breaking God's sole domain over Earth

USA:  Researchers at the atomic project acidently send a pile critical, unknowingly breaching a dimensional barrier

Japan:  Japanese submarine unknowingly collides with ancient undersea structure in south pacific unleashing magical energy into the Earth

Jan 15, 1942  First reported goblinization, Japanese sailor changes in to what is now called an orc

Jan 16, 1942 with in 48 hours the "epedimic" spreads world wide 40% of world population goblinizes in to new forms.

Jan 25, 1942 English druid succesfully casts first documented spell.

Remainder of 1942, war continues to rage on around the world with little gains for either side in any theater.  Most armies concentrate on re-organizing and finding ways to utilize the new soldiers.  Most contries begin research in to magic use for battle field and stretigic applications.

Jan 15, 1943  Game starts with both sides fielding specialized units as well as units of mixed races.  New units designed to utilize new discoveries and to counter the new discoveries.

Each side would have differnet areas they tried to concentrate on and specialize in.  And those could change as the campaign progressed.  But I figured if we already have WW2 with necromancy and wierd creatures, why not go full bore and throw the different races from the PHB in as well?

had the thought, since Wierd Wars uses the D20 system forcing us to get ahold of the AD&D players handbook and DMG, how about a world war 2 meets shadowrun campaign?  People turning in to elves and dwarves and ogres etc. but the technology level and political climate of WW2?

Might as well put those books to a little more use that just the core rules.

All that mucking around with necromancy and counter-necromancy has open up possibilities, eh? Baba Yaga hunting commissars, manitou scattering bits and pieces of hoarders and price gougers over the American landscape. This has potential.
