[WW] Just got "Dead From Above"... [Shane / PEG]

And I must say... BEAUTIFUL!!! Nicely written, good layouts, great
pictures!!!

Only a few things...

First off, stats for a 13mm gun? It's on the ME-109, but stats not
listed... Now, a .50BMG is 12.7mm or so, so in the intern, I'll use that,
but if there's a more official statement... :-)

Second... Is a complaint from one of my players... He's a *BIG* WWII Plane
buff (His Grandfather was a pilot for the RCAF, IIRC), and his complaint is
not just aimed at Pinnacle, but at quite a number of other things as well...
It is basically this... People seem to compare the Spitfire Mk. V (An
earily model Spitfire) against the P-51 Mustang (Late Model version). Now,
so far I was able to calm him down from his usual triade about this
(Basically by quoting the fact that it was a British Engine that allowed the
Mustang to actually WORK, thanks for mentioning that, PEG!!!), but methinks
I really should ask WHY you compared it to the Spitfire Mk. V, rather than
the Spitfire Mk. IX, which had a greater production number, and was very
much in production at the time. This is not a complaint by me, mind you,
but an answer as to why would be nice. (And very much requested... He
tends to scream when upset, and I have a tendency to get chronic
headaches... You don't want to have PC deaths on your heads now, do you???
:-) ).

Third... another plane nit-pick. Why no stats for the He-111??? I can
understand the Ju-88 (A nice multi-role craft, second only to the
Mosquito!), by the He-111 is what most think of when "German Bomber" is
mentioned (After, of course, stating "And I don't mean DIVE BOMBER!!!",
that's the Stuka!!!). Just a thought.

Fourth... What? No mention of stuck cockpits??? I mean, come on... Watch
"The Battle of Britain"!!! The Spitfire's Cockpits ALWAYS got stuck in
combat (Impacts would warp the slide rails for the cockpit, and then the
pilot could not open it! if the fighter was on fire!). He's a nice, perfect
opportunity for you to terrorize PC Pilots, and you don't suggest it???
Must be slipping (Maybe John Goff should come and visit for awhile, a
refresher course and all that. Heh heh heh.).

Fifth... GREMLINS!!! This is where they bloody well CAME FROM in modern
terms... Airplane Factories! Oh well, space I guess. (WM's might know
what I'm talking about here... Heh heh heh.).

Sixth... Gliders. OK, I had hoped that you would put Gliders in the book,
but, eh, if due to space, no problem. I'll just whip stuff up myself. (Not
really a complaint or question, but I felt that I should state it, is all.).

Seventh... Seventh... Seventh... Was there a Seventh??? Nope, don't
think so...

OK, now that I've ranted and all, let's see what's good!

Combat rules look EXCELLANT!!! I was wondering how to work around the
speeds, manouverability, ect. for air combat, and I must say that you've
done an EXCELLANT job of figuring out methods of doing it! One that takes
into consideration speed, ability, ect. I'll just have to figure something
out for surprise attacks. (Awwwwwwww... Poor Widdle Pilots forgot to watch
out for "The Hun In The Sun Aiming Guns!!!". Heh heh heh... I'll teach
'em!!!).

Feats and Skills are nice... I'd personally have three different types of
skills for "Navigation", as there is a big difference between finding your
location on land, in the sea, and flying around, but, eh, that's just me.
(Hmmmmmmmm... I wonder if OSI has a GPS system being developed... A
"Global Positioning Sorcery" system, that is.). Just another mention of
Gliders and I'm done. There, done.

The adventure, while American Specific (I'm starting in 1940), but, as the
"Official" game is in '44, that's understandable... And looks KEEN!!! Oh
well, I'll figure something with a Lanc, I guess... (Hmmmmmm... The Poles
ran to England after Germany overran 'em... There we go, done!).

Fifth... The Critters... Oh... Oh... They are so *BEAUTY*!!! I won't
say much more (The walls have ears!), other than the fact that I look, and I
smile... And a preditory one at that... MUH-HA-HA-HA!!!

Finally, the Plane sheets... They're Plain sheets!!! My group is very much
in agreeance with me when I say that Pinnacle makes some of the most
BEAUTIFUL sheets around!!! And also some of the hardest to use *DUE* to
that beauty... Can't have it all, I guess. Oh well, they're nice! One
thing I have to ask though... When do we get PDF's on the Webpage for
'em??? My printer is refilled with paper and just WAITING for RPG stuff to
print out!!!

In all, I must say that you've outdone yourself (As usual, why do I keep
being surprised???), and that soon my Players will curse you again and again
and again while I laugh and laugh and laugh!!!

Thank you!!!

Ray.
