[WW] Machinegun Hosers... A different view.

Ok I was looking in my handy little German military book when it mentions that a MG42 cyclic rate is 1,200 to 1,400 rounds a minute. It's practical rate as a LMG is 250 rounds a minute and 500 r.p.m. as a HMG. With an effective range of 600 to 800 yards as a LMG or 2,000 to 2,500yds. as a HMG.

So as a LMG we are looking at an approximate 12 shots per three-second round.

Now in game terms we are operating at the four shot burst level for the MG42. This leaves 8 shots bouncing around, which can be counted as attacks if the character has multiple attacks. If the character has more then three attacks he can just squeeze a bit harder =).

The point I am trying to make is that I was having trouble having the character only marking off 3 round bursts when I knew that they should logically be wasting a bunch more.

So I think by having them mark off a dozen shots per squirt (and still keeping the 3/4 burst rule) keeps ammo wastage a bit more realistic. It also enables high level characters to be more efficient at using the machine gun without increasing his expenditure (Just picture a green schmuck bouncing 2/3's of his bullets around you, while the frosty veteran lands every shot at your position with deadly accuracy).
