Time, eh? The basic rules are about 4 pages long and
are as simple as you can get. I had my group put
together characters in about 20 minutes and we were
playing right away. Keep in mind, this is a system
that is built to be simple and fun to play. And it's
FREE.

(since most of their supposed problems with it are
easily addressed or fixed), sort of how players of
every other gaming system look down on d20. Which is

fanboys

Nah, people will love the new system because it's THAT
good. Believe me, I've been playtesting the thing for
awhile now. Hell, Shane ran it at my house and it was
a blast. Our later playtests convinced me that I don't
want to run much else. Even the original DL/HOE stuff
pales in comparison. I told you it was good.

Look, I've been involved with doing some conversion
work from DL regular to DL d20. And I wrote one of the
d20 Weird Wars adventures in the "Dead From Above"
collection. So, you can say I'm familiar with d20.
Personally, I don't think d20 is fun to write and it
isn't fun to make NPCs. Conversion work is like
pulling teeth. Now, it's a good system for
straight-forward stuff, but not everybody is into
that. I don't think that this move is about not liking
d20, but more about making a simple, fun system for
those who don't like the d20 stuff.

So, hold off on the negative stuff until you get a
peek at the game. I think you'll be pleasantly
surprised.
