[WW] Rules Question; Shotguns

i am unsure how shotguns work in WW. the text on page 89 seems to indicate 
one thing (+2 on attack rolls per range increment beyond 1st) and the table 
seems to indicate another (+0, +1, +2, +3).
can someone clear this up for me?
