Squares are identified by their coordinates XY. Prongs are labeled a-h. A move consists of one of three alternatives: add a prong, move a pod, or jump.

A moves consists of moving a pod one square in any direction in which one has a prong. Jumps consist of jumping over an occupied square to an empty square in a direction in which one has a prong. By following the destination square with an "x", the jump performs a capture. Capturing your own pod is allowed. Multiple jumps are allowed however one pod may not be jumped twice in a single turn. All prongs on a captured pod become part of your supply.

22+b (add prong)

22-33 (move)

22-44-64x (jump followed by capture)

A player wins by moving one of his pods into one of the opponent's four starting squares. He also wins if he catures all his opponent's pods. If a player cannot move they lose.

References and History

OctiLite was originally marketed as "Octi for Kids". Currently it is marketed under the name "Octi" while the version previously implemented on the server and called "Octi" is now called "Octi Extreme". It has been adapted for Richard's PBEM server by Lyman Hurd with the support and encouragement of the inventor, Don Green and the encouragement of the author of the server's Octi implementation Stephen Tavener..
