[BNW] Inconsistencies
First note - I really like BNW. It rules. I can't wait to start running
and demoing it around here.
However, I've found a couple of inconsistencies that annoy me, mostly
between the main rule book and Ravaged Planet.
The Yankee - In RP, the Patriot talks about how the Yankee was his hero,
and how he loved him so much. He's still around, even though he caught a
bullet in '64. However, in the BNW book, Yankee is told to be killed in
WWII, in the prison camp revolt that spawned Superior.
The Patriot - In BNW, it's told how the HUAC dragged him onto the stand,
where he railed against them and made them hang their heads in shame - in
1953. In RV, he's listed as being born in 1945, and definitely wasn't a
delta when he was 8 years old.
US/USSR nuclear exchange - At one point, they say that they waited as
rescue workers swarmed around "San Fransisco, Atlanta, and Houston". Why
Houston? No problems seemed to have befallen it according to the main
text, if I remember correctly.
USSR delta group - Is it the Red Brigade or Crimson Pride? It seems that
the same group is called by both names.
Finally, one last one....but it's a BIG spoiler, so you players stay out of
this Guide section...
Go away! You heard me!
The Facade took over for JFK, and was listed as an Alpha. He then
orchestrated the bombing of Chicago to get rid of all the Alphas. Well...
How did he not get disappeared?!
If he's an alpha, all the free Alphas disappeared. Of course, the ones in
power-dampening fields remained. However, if they're in those fields, they
can't use their powers, so he wouldn't look like JFK anymore.
I could assume that he went into a prison or something for a "tour", got
his powers drained and hid with a few advisors when the bomb went off, then
left and reformed - but that's a hell of a stretch, and very, very
suspicious to outsiders.
