[BNW] Tricks/Skills/Quirks
What new tricks/skills/quirks have other people come
up with so far?
Here are some ideas I've had (and I'm in a sharing
kind of mood tonight:):
Quirk:
Phantom Dependance (really needs a better name)-
1-3pts, Somehow when the hero became a Delta he
associated an object with his new found powers.
Although the object is itself powerless, the hero
feels he needs it in order to use his powers. An
example would be a ring worn by a blaster, which he is
convinced allows him to blaster his enemies. To
determine the cost of this weakness just use the old
Champions style formula. If the device is obvious and
easily removable (let's say a wand) then it's 3 pts.
If it's inobvious and not very accessible (say an
ankle bracelet under tights that they think help them
fly) than it's 1 pt. Anything inbetween is 2pts.
Remember the device itself has no power except for its
importance to the hero. To understand how an object
can be important view Pulp Fiction and the Golden
Watch scene.
Phantom Weakness (again needs a better name)- 1 to 5
pts, You think you have a weakness (or maybe you
really do) in which your powers won't work under
certain circumstances. Example: Captain Socketwrench
(really, there is no character by this name, it is all
made up, honest) is a gadgeteer who is, unfortunately,
under the delusion that his power does not work in
direct sunlight (he can't make things outdoors). For
most other powers (like say a flier) this weakness
might be 3 or 4 pts. Since the Cpt can squirrel
himself away into a dark basement to work it would
only be a 1 or 2pt delusion.
I was planning on suggesting a trick for each of the
basic 10 power packages, but am at work and my shift
is done. Maybe tomorrow I'll get some more ideas out.
Let me know what you think.
