Delta Prime has Bargainers, the infamous Men in Black. But they also have the Men in White, the Bargainers who work with Gadgeteers on unholy mixtures of science and sorcery. The bomb which destroyed Chicago was clearly no ordinary doomsday device. It was tailored to rid the world of alphas, to eliminate a threat to Kennedy's power base. With the alphas (especially Superior) gone, Delta Prime was formidable yet malleable. The Defiance lost their heavy guns, and all other ultra-powerful threats were swept away.
Suppose the Devastator's bomb was technomagical in origin? One that effectively banished the alphas from the Earthly realm, and into another dimension? Perhaps even the Infernal realms of the Bargainers "partners" ? Certainly a likely explanation, but if this is the case how is it deltas can no longer reawaken to become alphas? Some kind of magical fallout? Magic residue left over from the Devastator's blast?
And what of the vanished alphas? Are they alive? Dead? What's the fate of Superior? Matt recently said that he's "as gone as gone can be."
Crossroads is said to give us rules for alphas. Does this mean the alphas of '76 are coming back, or that whatever ban placed upon the world to prevent their emergence is wearing off.
What about Bargainer alphas like the Iron Mask or Marie Laveau? How is it that they resisted the Vanishing? They obviously weren't incarcerated in delta dampening fields.
Questions, questions. But no answers. Anyone else have any Vanishing theories, or reasons why deltas may become alphas again?
