It was also a way for Wolverine to get close to a target as well. (Such as a
fleeing enemy or a Sentinel flying overhead blasting them, Wolverine kinda
sticks to them with his claws.)
It was also done a lot by Rogue/Wolverine later when Colossus was on the
injured list. (not nearly as often as Russkie and Canuk did though.
