I reckon the whole technomagic bomb stuff is right on the money. King Jack
rigged it up dead secret to take away anyone who might threaten him. but he
needed some sort of way to stay himself. he gets whichever bargainer was in
it with him to rig up a contract with a demon that he takes away all the
alphas he can see, and anyone who awakes afterwards. It doesn't occur that
any alpha other than him might be under a nullification field (well, he
probably figured about the imprisoned ones, but he uses them for terror
strikes/ primer weapons etc, so thats works for him).  As the contract was
worded like that, all the nullified alphas were safe, but "working" alpha's
and newly awakened ones disappear to the nevernever alphaland Chicago.

As to them all coming back, it'll probably be when the contract wears off.
And that day, I wouldn't want to be swimming in Chicago bay, as theres gonna
be one big splash!
