Special Abilities:
   Dark Protection(4)
   Arcane Protection(4)
Gate: When things look bleak for Brinton, he can draw a star on the
ground with his cane. By stepping into this star, Brinton can return to his
nearest sanctum. (One in New York, One north of London, One in Eastern
Europe, and a few others scattered across the globe.) This takes three
actions to perform; Two to draw the star, and one to step into it.
Ritualistic Magics: Inside one of Brinton's sanctums, Brinton can cast
ritualistic magics. They are very powerful magics, but they take more time,
effort, and preparation.
Soul Bind: When Brinton finds a dark-souled lackey he feels is worthy,
Brinton can bind the lackey's soul to Brinton's. This insures absolute
loyalty from the lackey in exchange for the Dark Protection ability at level
2.
   Scrye(5)
Demonic Healing: Treat it as the Blessed's Lay On Hands, but rather than
taking the wounds onto himself, Brinton casts them onto someone else.
Surprise, Surprise, once the wound is transferred to someone else, it does
not heal quickly at all. Treat any wounds transferred by this power as being
two levels higher than it actually is for healing purposes.
Summon Demon: If his need is great, Brinton can summon a lesser demon to
his aide. However, the danger involved in this ritual is great, therefore
Brinton uses it only when he deems it absolutely necessary.
Brinton's Cane: Although he can use a Derringer, Brinton's main weapon is
his cane. There are three methods of attack.
1)HTH: The cane does STR + 1d6 damage + 1d20 black lightning style
damage. In addition, anyone struck by the cane must make a Vigor check
against (9) or be stunned.
2)Ripple Burst: Brinton taps his cane against the ground and a circular
ripple of black energy expands from the point of impact, growing in size to
a radius of 10 yards in a flash. Anyone in the burst can make an opposed
dodge roll versus Brinton's faith roll. (Blessed can substitute faith for
dodge). Anyone who fails takes 3d12 damage distributed (like dynamite)
between the legs and guts as the energy crawls up their body. Prone targets
in the radius distribute the wounds to any location touching or near the
ground.
3)Dark Bolt: By pointing his cane at a target, Brinton can shoot a bolt
of dark lightning to strike his targets. Brinton rolls his faith as if it
were his shootin' skill. The range increment of the bolt is 20. For each
raise Brinton gets on this roll, he can have two weaker branches split off
and strike two more targets within ten yards of the first. Branches cannot
backtrack, but two branches at the same damage level can hit the same
target. (It sounds confusing, but if you can imagine a the path of a natural
lightning bolt, then the attack probably works.)
The first target takes 5d12 damages, the first two branches (if any) do 2d10
damage each. The next two branches (again if any) do 1d8 damage each.
The most targets Brinton can hit with this attack is 7.

Gear: Derringer, Pocket Watch, and Brinton's Cane.
Description: William Brinton is a distinguished looking English gentleman,
obviously from the upper class. He wears a well-tailored dark suit, and
walks with an ebony cane with a silver knob as a handle, and a silver cap at
the tip. His black hair has started to turn grey, as has his mustache. He
has a lean build, and appears to be in his mid to late 40s.

Brinton is a subtle man, before he approaches any posse with a job offer, he
will scrye them to learn more about them. Therefore, when he speaks with the
posse, he often seems to know things about them that few would know. (He
most certainly will find out what prime abilities each posse member has. ie
Huckster, Mad Scientist, Blessed, Gunslinger, Muckraker, etc.)

Brinton gained his powers from the demon K'azuthoth when he summoned the
demon and made a pact with him. If the pact is destroyed, Brinton will be
dragged off to a horrible torment in ... well, .... Hell. Otherwise,
Brinton's last act before death is releasing K'azuthoth into the world.
Brinton has also been harvesting sources of arcane power for years. As a
partner in gathering these relics, K'azuthoth can easily gain access to that
power once in the mortal world.

During the late 1870s, Brinton often travelled in his private coach
accompanied by two men. The driver, Mr. Kroft is fairly good with a rifle
and brutal with the buggy whip. While Brinton is conducting business, Mr.
Kroft will wait at the coach smoking a cigar. Riding shotgun is the Ol'
Coot. This lecherous old geezer stays near Brinton when he's conducting
business, although his eye easily strays whenever a woman is present. He
always totes a quad-barrel shotgun, although he only shoots all four when
its braced properly on the coach. As a final note, there are times when
Brinton has a "Guardian Demon" hiding in his shadow. If he needs help, he
can call this demon forth.

Sorry for being so long winded, but these are many of the notes I've made
for William Brinton during the late 1870s. If you need anything else, I'd be
glad to help.
