Actually, as far as how things effect the storyline, I'd suggest folks wait
and see what comes of it...

Okay, now that's out of the way...

I think the divergence in plotlines is going to be a lot smaller than most
concerned folks think. For example, in Ghost Busters, if the Ghost dies,
he's out of the setting. However, even if he survives and is freed from the
manitou's Dominion, he has serious second thoughts about the vulnerability
his "peculiar" state places the Agency in with him so highly placed. As a
result, he moves out of direct influence and tries to distance himself from
operations, in effect "exiling" himself.

Basically the three adventures this year are all Grimme's machinations to
destabilize the Union and Confederacy influence in the Maze so he can grab
more land. In many ways, regardless of the outcome of the adventure, his
schemes are successful. If the heroes stop the Ghost or kill him, the Agency
still takes a hit; if California goes Union, Confederate, or Independent,
the region is thrown into more confusion as the losing side(s) fight the
transition; whether or not Richmond goes up in a puff of smoke or not,
Grimme has turned the attentions of the Confederacy back to the East.

In effect, he's making sure his "sovereign" claim over Lost Angels is
recognized (or at least ignored) for long enough for him to solidify his
power.

The players' actions still make a big mark on the turn of events, but the
_major_ story progression is _generally_ the same; there are differences,
but none insurmountable to a good Marshal--and anyone who runs a Deadlands
game is by definition a _good_ Marshal. :-)

Does that make more sense?
