[DL] Varient rules: Cinematic devices

Cinematic devices:

The use of chips allow the player to control the plot of the game both by
making rolls far beyond their skills and staying alive against bad odds. The
rules for cinematic devices allow the posse and the Marshall to tweak the plot
even more to recreate some of the plotlines, plot twists, and plot clinches
used in the movies.

When the player uses a chip for a device the Marshall can deny it by spending
a similar chip or allow the device to come into effect, if the Marshall does
so the Marshall keeps the chip.

When the Marshall uses a device he has to spend a chip too, the player who is
effected by the device can block it by spending a chip, or they can get the
chip the Marshall is spending.

Devices should never replace the effects that can be spent buying dice with
chips as in the regular game.

I’m due:
Sometimes it aint gonna help getting a extra d4 to a roll, even if its added
to your best roll, this device is for when its dramatically important for you
to make this roll this one time. This device can never be used directly in
combat. ( you cant shoot someone, or even shoot the gun from their hands, but
you can try to shoot their hat off.)

W: Beginner’s luck (Negate 1 penalty to one roll up to -4.)
R: Just lucky I guess ( Negate 1 penalty to one roll.)
B: Moment of clarity (Negate all penalties to one roll.)

Old acquaintances:
Sometimes you just need to have people know who you are right this moment.

W: Don’t I know you... (Dude gains 1 additional level of renown in this area)
R: Hey ain’t you... ( as above, but 2 levels)
B: I once saw him kill a man in Reno, just to watch him bleed...( as above but
3 levels)

Distractions:
Sometimes a Dude just needs a chance, maybe the black hat gots the drop on
him, maybe the dude just likes to disappear without say good bye ( or paying
)

R: ( or bluff Vs smarts ) Who’s that behind you? ( Dude gets to use 1 action
card before a lone opponent)
B:( or bluff Vs groups smarts ) Hey’ look over there ( as above but vs. A
group of dudes)

Blindsides:
No matter how well guarded a place is, a dude can always find a way. This
device is used to allow a dude to get close enough to a well guarded sight
they have at least a chance to make a sneak roll.

W: He was looking the other way ( Dude has a chance to sneak up on one dude)
R: They was looking the other way ( Dude has a chance to sneak up on a group
of dudes)

Chemistry:
No not the science, the guy gal kind:
W: Good Impression. (Player gains the advantages of Purty for one encounter
with a NPC.)
R: Appealing. ( Play gain the advantage of Purty permanently with one NPC)

Coming up:
Both guns a blazing:
Aint that handy:
Must be special guns:
Horning in on the action.
Here I stand.
