When there`s a missing aptitude or you have no clue what level it should be
just pick a poker card. If it`s a major villain I`m adding 1d4 levels (house
rule!).

The Marshal`s Guide has a listing how many BP you should give and for what
situation.

Once again draw poker cards (also described in the Marshal`s Guide).

I think there will be always mistakes in every products. And it makes no sense
to ask every time what the right answer is, because then you have to spend more
time asking someone and thinking about then developing a smooth running
adventure.
And as a GM you will always face situations you are not prepared for. And PEG
is trying best to help you to stand those situations (my opinion).
Perdition`s Daughter was my first Deadlands adventure, too, and I had no
difficulties. Ok, I have to admit that the game was also a disaster but it
wasn`t my fault (all cultists died and Lady Carstairs escaped).
Perhaps you are new to roleplaying at all, so take this as an advice, not a
critic:-).

On the other side, I think there are a few changes regarding BP at the time
Perdition`s Daughter was released and after the Marshal`s Guide came to the
shelves( I can`t say, my first version is missing).
