Well, a number of people (me) think that deadlands combat takes too
long.  That's in contrast to the hectic timing of CP2020 or Feng Shui,
or other combat oriented games.

Depending on how you run Deadlands, you might end up favoring the
Western side of the Deadlands Triad (Western, Horror, Camp).  If you
favor Western, you're going to run a lot of combat.  And for large
combats, or at least very complex ones, Deadlands is a little too
complicated.

Mostly, totaling a lot of dice per roll, and the card system for
initiative are what holds most people up.  Things only get worse when
you add in the Huckster rules and so forth.

In My Humble Opinion, of course.

Anyway, if it's not too slow for you, then great; don't change a thing. 
But other people, myself included, use alternate initiative systems.
