That is one chance out of 1728 for each roll. Not so big, IMHO.
And chances of hitting with two bullets are:
for gunman A: 99.75% to hit with (at least) 1 bullet
99.0% to hit with 2 bullets
for gunman B: 99.5% to hit with one bullet
76.2% to hit with 2 bullets
30.2% to hit with 3 bullets
On average, with a 3d6 pistol, the total damage for the round is:
for gunman A: 25.04
for gunman B: 25.94 (no reliability check)
24.64 (with a reliability of 19)
Personnaly, I prefer a DA pistol, with these rules, because
* The figures tell it is almost the same
* The reliability makes the Gattling pistol lower than
a DA pistol
* The risks with a reliability check may hurt you
* With raises on DA pistols, you get a lot more chances
to hit gizzard or head
* If you carry a gattling pistol, local law will often be
more suspicious
But of course, overawe with a gattling pistol could be a lot better...
