Yes and No to the first question, Yes to the second.
The student services building at McGill Univesity, (in Montreal, Quebec,
Canada for the non-Canadians out there or the merely clueless ;-) ) has the
almost official name of the William Shatner Building.  It was so named by
vote of the student body in honour of the famous mediocre actor, infamously
bad singer and former student at McGill.  The name isn't officially used by
the Administration, probably because Shatner didn't give them any money.
    (The University is funny like that.  Also actors too.  As actors rarely
have huge piles of cash lying around to give to universities, the honour of
having buildings named after you usually falls at McGill to wealthy families
involved "local" large industries, such as beer (the Molsons stadium),
whiskey (The Bronfman building) or plain old sugar (The Redpath library.)
    Given that McGill is one of the continents best universities, it's
allumi usually are quite happy to admit to going there.
