Re: [DL] Would appreciate some feedback...

Shannonsburg is located roughly midway betwixt LA and SF, and I think it
would make an excellent base of operations for a group of Pinkertons. Yes,
yes, it is the center of Confederate activity in the Maze. So what? doesn't
that make it an even better place to stick a group of Union spies? The
benefits are tremendous. First, you get another set of storied to tell in
your campaign: Intel gathering and sabotage against the Rebels. Second, you
get a rational activity for the "extra" players when they aren't being
played, i.e. gathering intel & sabotaging Rebel operations, and they don't
have to leave town to do it. Third it adds an extra bit of danger; the posse
isn't even safe at home. They will need some sort of cover and it gives you
fantastic hook when & if they ever blow thier cover.

I, like Ms. Frey, am a DG veteran and having played in a long standing
campaign where one player knows all the secrets and refuses to share them,
yet based on said knowledge has a better idea of what to do than the others
and orders them around, I would highly recommend making them all Pinkertons
and thus all on the same footing and willing to share info with each other.
One Pinkerton with a posse of "normals" is going to frustrate the rest of
the posse by concealing info and since the adventures come from his/her
contact, he/she will most likely start acting like the boss. I have never
played in a game with one player in charge of the rest and enjoyed it.

As for AB's: From what I can gather there are Pinkerton's with AB's but not
many. The Pinks rely heavily on Mad Science so a Mad Scientist would
probably be the most likely candidate, Followed by a Blessed. According to
the "canon" Pinkerton Huckster's are few and far between and most usually
wind up as "Cleaners." The Pinks don't trust Hexslinging as it tends to be
unreliable and a bit too flasy for thier tastes and mission. I wouldn't rule
out a Shaman, but gettin an Injun' into the Pinkertons may need a little
'splainin. Harrowed Pinkerton would probably be the least likely candidate.
I only know of one that has ever been mentioned in the books and he's
special. Also given what Pinkerton's do with Harrowed it is probably a
stretch to say a brand new character could survive such an ordeal. Just use
common sense & remind them that thier mission is to CONCEAL the supernatural
as well as fight it.
