RE: [DL] Re: A Winchester in .45 Colt?



I believe that they were (Winchester rifles available in .45 Colt pistol
chambering).  The original SAA were .44-40 -- like a previous poster posted,
it was convenient to have your pistol and your saddle rifle to fire the same
round (Winchester came up with the .44-40 pistol/rifle round, calling it the
.44 WCF -- according to the Winchester website).  If one of the most popular
pistols on the market was going to switch ammo, Winchester would have been
smart to make a rilfe available to partner with it.  So while I cannot right
now find documentation to the fact, it would logically make sense that you
could get your Winchester '76 in Colt .45.
